Hi,this is what I'm currently working on:
I want to use these 2 tubes to jack the car up from the front so axle stands can easily be fitted.
From the pictures the front radiator mount is missing which has a square section (25x25mm x2mm) welded in from which the car will be lifted up,this then bolts in to the two front tubes with two bolts each side, this will also act as a tow point so need to be strong enough.
The problem is the welds are starting to break on the tube as it stands right now (well, it's 4 of them as it's not a continuous weld),I know I need to spread the load on a wider area along the chassis rail, maybe a spreader plate that slides over the tube and welded along the two sides of the rail could work? Similar to how a sill stand mount fits.
For reference the tube is 30mm x 2mm,the metal to which it is welded to is 2mm thick.
I will need to do the same on the other side but there should be a lot less strain as the tube is shorter, thank you for any help.
