Hi all, I have been a long time member but I too have remained quiet and just observed threads rather than including input.
The madness that we are all living in has forced my hand in some life decisions be it a good or a bad thing. I had travel plans which would of resulted in me spending a year in NZ with a working holiday Visa and some work on a friends farm to settle me in to a dream of living in NZ.
That was the primary dream , secondary was to start up my own business.
Not looking like I am going to be able to make my visa start date and with the likelihood of a visa extension slim to non I have decided to focus all my energy and time on my other goals.
I work in the aerospace industry (composites funnily enough) and put myself through a city and guilds level 2 welding and engineering course in my own time and a considerable amount of savings (not that this means much I have learnt, but did help me get my current job) around my jobs.
I completed a level 3 car repair and paint (where i found my love for welding) in 2012 but just couldn't get a break on getting a job and had to find employment due to needing to live which ended up in me managing a popular music venue for a few years, before ending up where I am.
With job security looking unpromising and the aerospace industry currently in a terrible state I thought I would turn here to chase another dream hopefully make some friends and seek some advise.
As it stands im still employed and before all this my shift pattern would let me pic up odd jobs in my days off, and doing all sorts (landscaping, decorating, welding jobs etc) People who know me , know my work ethic and already have a good reputation. have limited access to a workshop I use due to covid and thinking of getting a van to start up something on the side around work for now (not up for working for peanuts for an employment agency).
realized I have banged on quite a bit , but anyone close to bristol happy to offer some advise and even maybe let me get some practice in feel free to say hello! By far no where near the standard I want to be but by no means a novice. Any other advice and tips very welcome
Thanks
Kurt
