After being on this forum for... years, I am finally doing it.
I have space, a project a bit of disposable income, time and a welder.
I am happy to weld all day and practice and get better. My concern/reservations has always been around health and safety and making sure I don't burn down the house. Here are some pictures of my garage.
Overview of the single garage
The wooden buck pictured will be removed, and below that is a steel chassis and I will clear the space of the wooden offcuts and cardboard boxes that I have on the floor.
I have the gas meter, electric meter and boiler all in the garage, will they be an issue? do they need covering?
I also have 2 wooden work benches made from bog standard uncoated construction timber.
The garage door opens to a driveway and road, I will likely weld with the door half open for ventilation and light.
I will also buy a small fire extinguisher (Co2?) as well as fire blankets on hand to drape over parts of the car
I will be welding mostly in this corner (with the pile of offcuts removed):
I will also be doing some welding to the chassis but not a huge amount.
The floor is concrete so not a problem
I am also tempted to set up a welding screen, would this be needed?
Any advice is welcome. Alo happy to take more pictures for clarity.
