We used to employ a chap who could weld using our SIP Top Mig 171 turbo, we used to build small scale shopfittings out of 38 x 38 x 1.5mm box section among other things as well as small repairs etc.
I could lay a fairly good weld, if he had set up the machine and wire speed etc. etc. before hand.
He has now left the company and I need to weld a 10mm thick plate to the end of a 100 x 100 x 5mm SHS section. The plate is 300mm square so the weld will join the two parts at right angles.
Firstly is our machine up to it ? it is set up with 0.8mm wire and BOC argoshield light. Any idea on settings ?
I'm just replacing the liner and will have a practice subject to any feedback I get here.
Many thanks, Steven.
