I'm working on a project with a hall effect wheel sensor with one output but i need to use it for ecu and power steering can you split the single output for doing two separate jobs

Why not? It's an on off device. You may need to buffer the output, but that won't be complicated.

Do you mean a resistor how would I do it

Feed the output into a couple of op-amps or nand gates. They'll be completely isolated from each other.

But depending on what it is you're intending to drive with the output, a couple of resistors may well be sufficient.

If they don't need to be synchronised might be easier to use two sensors?

A buffer would be some circuitry which will isolate the ECU from the power steering.

So they don't interfere with each other. Could be a couple of transistors. Or an IC. Would need power and protecting from the elements...

Will be used at the same time I'm new to these sensors how exactly would I fit resistor and what resistors would I use

It depends on what the input characteristics are for the ECU. High impedance, current driven, voltage driven... I don't know enough about ECUs to add much more. But I'm certain that someone lurking here will have more knowledge.

Fit two it's the easiest most reliable option....
