Grounding jump point to body

I wanted an external jump point on the 110, have some disco battery leads I was using for something else in an Anderson plug,

Now I have enough cable to get the positive back to the battery, but not the negative.

This was a FFR vehicle so has earth straps all over the place, will it be fine to just bolt the thing to the body??

I usually do with normal bits, but I could draw quite a lot of amps through this

To the chassis would be ok but I would be a bit wary of sticking it onto the alloy body.
At the best I expect you will end up with a corroded hole in short time.

What size cable are you using? I expect I can find you a few meters if things are that bad!

I think the disco cables are 35mm, I know it's not mega money but I'm trying my best not to spend loads on this thing anymore I already had everything else

The roll cage mounting to the tub is what I'd bolt it to, thats connected to the dexion racking thing on the middle bulkhead and my secondary batterys negative bolts to that through some 35mm cable.

I'll buy some cable if it's essential though?

It's useful to have the jump point but there are a couple things worth noting.

Make sure you have a fuse next to the battery connection just in case of a short.
Don't let anyone else connect the croc clips to the other vehicle, if they connect them wrong its possible you could snap the Andersons together and they weld themselves before you can pull them apart.They can be tight at the best of times without them trying to weld themselves.Obviously a fuse should stop this but.
I have an Anderson on my jump battery and what I do is connect the +ve,connect the anderson then connect the -ve. That way you have no chance of a short and if thing are wrong you'll get arching before you cook anything.

Ground to the chassis at a minimum. On my SIII I ran 35mm2 leads from the andersons back to the battery to ensure a nice low resistance circuit.

The body earthing straps on FFR vehicles was for radio interference purposes and shouldn't be relied on as a heavy current path back to the battery.

Ah i see, explains why the rad haz kit has earth straps I didn't connect.
I have ripped out all the military stuff other than the earth straps, but then put my own earth to the dexion/roll cage so I should have a decent body ground? Everything I put in still works anyway

I'd put the Anderson as close to the battery as possible rather than the other end of the vehicle.
