Got the new mig!

Hi all the portamig arrived today and im very impressed! Steve is really a top guy! I get the new gas friday then hopefully i will carry on from where i left off at the weekend ! Learning that is

Welcome to the Portamig Club.

Which gas are you going for? A nice Argon/CO2 mix I hope. The low settings on the Portamigs are very low and not really enough to sustain plain CO2 on the minimum setting.

PS - do post some photos and take the thread back towards learning before some mod moves you to the machines section. Machines (and gas) can make a fair old difference to the learning experience.

great machine to learn with..i got a 255 to lean with and i must say i can produce excellent welds with it and i only been using it for couple of months.

Yes a nice argon/c02 5%mix. I was on pub gas but to be honnest i dont like it and as i had a new mig why not go that bit better and get the new gas!
I also got the free dronco discs with the wire was handy!
I didnt think makes of wire differed but when i changed to sealey it seemed to burn much different it was like starting to learn again with it, nightmare stuff. I trust i have the rite stuff now from steve
