Getting that rust in the nooks and crannies

Evening all

I'm struggling finding a tool to hit rust in corners and square sections with a grinder and wire wheels and cups. I've got an electric power file too, but it doesn't get right into the corners like I need it to.

Is there something else out there that I'm missing and need that'll get in the nooks and crannies?

The best you will probably get is a Dremel with a cone shaped grinding stone but it will still leve a tiny bit in the corner.

No rotary tool will get all the way in there, the best way is probably shot blasting or a chemical rust eater.

Yeah a Dremmel drill with bits or clone dremmel drill.

Have you reciprocating saw? get an old blade,snap it in half, put double sided tape on the blade get some emery paper and apply to the blade tape,set reciprocating saw to the slowest speed.

That get you right into the corners.

I'll have to look at some dremel attachments. Sand blasting isn't an option for me at the moment.

I like the recip saw idea. I'll pick one of them up and try it.

old skool burgess glass engraver with a carbide bit, they are vibratory rather than rotary, so its like using a single pin needle scaler. the hole on this piece in 1/2" diameter

I've look on eBay but can't find elbow grease...

i ground down a brass rod (i used 1" dia as its comfy to hold) to a flat angled point and used spray adhesive to stick some wet and dry to it. seemed to do the job and you can regrind it to match radii or different corners etc

BB. should not be grinding brass, It can load up the wheel/disk

I use a Dremmel with a carbide tip and Bilt Hamber Deox Gel to get rid of pitted rust or rust in areas you can't fully reach.
