I'm six months into my Motorcycle restoration business and it's a steep and expensive learning curve.
I'm fed up with wasting money on trial and error. The mechanics side of my business is easy for me but the blasting and painting etc is rather new to me but I'm getting there.
The sandblasting is the annoying part. I've got a large wooden shed custom built for my blaster which is one of these with a good light and old vacuum cleaner for extraction.
I've also got a decent 14CFM compressor which hits 150PSI on my guage and has a large tank.
The blaster is fed through a 10M airline with a water trap.
I need to remove a lot of corrosion from alloy wheels, clean engines for painting etc. It's more cleaning and paint prep than for smooth finishes. But I don't want to turn aluminium cases into orange skin either.
I've tried all sorts of media and I'm having problems.
Jblast supafine = Doesn't last long as is SOOOO dusty it makes work almost impossible.
0.20-1.5mm Glass grit = Doesn't seem to pull through. No dust but nothing is coming out. Is it too heavy ??
What about Nozzles ??? What difference will that make ???? I've got one Nozzle on the gun which seems to be about 8mm. Too big I think. I've ordered a mixed pack so can experiment there.
How much media should I put in my cabinet ?? I buy 25KG bags in and usually drop in about 10KG at a time. Is this too much or too little ???
Any tips and tricks will be gratefully received.
Cheers, Ted
