This weeks project was a nice set of gates for a holiday park.
They will have hydraulic auto openers on the main gates, and box type on the 2 smaller side gates.
Overall span of this pair will be just over 5 metres, then the 2 side gates are just over a metre each.
Railheads, hinges, letters and cages bought in.
Frame is 50x50 SHS, 100x50 RHS, long infills are 16mm round, short ones are 12mm round, and top rail is 50x10flat.
2 of us can just about lift up one gate, theyre pretty heavy.
To keep it all inline and make it easier to put together i decided to drill the frames and top rails.
Top rail was rolled first then marked for drilling.
Tack the frames together, then feed all the bars through. No jigs required.
These and the two side gates of the same design (with a flame cut oaktree emblem) has taken me about a week to do. Minus a few hours on other little jobs.
All the venting for galv was done afterwards, i could have donemost of it invisibly, but if the galvers cant see it, they tend to put holes in things with a gas torch.
They will be galved, then wet sprayed black, with gold railheads on the top only.
IMO, i think both sets, the cages and lettering should be gold.
Im not fitting them, but hopefully will get to deliver and hold inplace for the autogate man so i get to see the finished article.
