Hi all, quite new to the site been on WeldingWeb for a while and then found this one day, just the same only full of civilised types such as your good sevles, much more agreeable,

Anyway here's a couple of jobs I've just finished and installed hope you like?

looks a bit lightweight for a fence to stop the kids getting onto the grass.....




That is a lovely job! How did you cut it all to length? I see a bandsaw and chop saw...also did you do all the detailing yourself or buy the scrolls etc in?

Thanks guys, the customer wanted the fence to stop his Siberian Husky from s%@*ing on the grass where his kids play, he's now asked me to do the front of his house too RESULT!

I used the bandsaw for most of this job, but I've been using the sheap crappy ones from Machine Mart and it just eats them I went through 5 doing these 2 jobs!

I buy a lot of my detail stuff from NVF and my steel stock from Higson edwards, it's quicker and easier that way. I do my own arches like on the garden gate using this a ring/section roller i made

Nice work mate that ring roller looks handy what kind of wall thickness and what size of box - section can it roll ?
Where would i get one of those ?

the biggest I've rolled so far has been 1" box section which it did with no trouble at all really, thats a 12 tonne bottle jack in there. I don't know where you would buy one I'm afraid thats why I built this one, I built it really for making arches for gates and railings but I'm having another set of rollers made for bending RHS I don't know if it will work but if it does it just means the bender can be used for so many other things.

Love that ring roller too, might have to 'borrow' the design for it if that's ok?
Bandsaw blades eh? MM carbon steel ones are absolute rubbish, went through so many of them until I bought a bi-metal one from Dragon Saws, actually I bought two but I'm still using the first one . Give them a ring or email them, tell them what you cut and they'll sort you out with the correct tooth pitch . Cost is a fair bit more than a carbon steel one but it'll last several times longer and cut far more accurately .

One of the things that happends with dry cut saws. Make sure there isnt to much weight on the nose of the saw, you should be able to adjust the weight via an adjustable spring.
Convert it to a wet cut saw. Not as difficult as it sounds, you need a tray to catch the cutting fluid, and a window screen washer pump with pump the fluid, and a 12 volt power supply. just rig it up so that coolant fluid is dribbled on the blade will cutting. they stay sharper much long and cut quicker.

Wozzaaah: feel free to use the design if you want no probs at all, thanks for the tip about Dragon Saws I'll give them a bell on monday.

Ramsey: well worth building yourself a ring roller if you can, I got a quote for having some arches dones (only flat bar) and I was told £50 a bend! I can repeat as many bends as I want for free and each bend takes 2 mins. The machine paid for itself the first job I did.

Will try to build one when i get my garage built currently building a concrete sectional garage concrete went in this morning.

thats all my garage is, a bit cramped at times but suits me, yeah I have more pics but will need to resize to post and am just on me way out shopping now so will get em on probably tomorrow.

Really nice job Norm, loved the heavy scrolls and strong overall appearance, only thing I don't like are the two legs bolted to the brickwork,would have prefered if it was fixed the same as the gate posts, (loved the roller too, will be watching with interest for further posts,)
