Silly project for someone who was bored and wanted to make something...
So wanted something that would hold the gate open, and grab hold of it with a push, or when the wind gets hold of it (slams it). It's not practical for shorties or children, and there are simpler ways to do this, but I was grinding, cutting, welding, painting and keeping out of trouble :-)
It was made from scraps I had, and does not use springs, it just pivots on a piece of stainless rod.The welding is a tad rough, but plenty strong.
Here she is...
As the latch gets knocked up, a lower part will get hit by the gate, knocking it back down.
Over the gate...
If that's not enough, there's even a video! It slams twice, first time normal speed, second time in glorious slow motion (hence no sound). You can see the lower part come up and get hit by the gate.
It's not much, but I'm happy with it.
