Gas flow/pressure

Hi Guys,when I used to do a lot of mig myself I was using CO2 and a bottle heater.Now thirty five years later we have migs in the place again.I`ve got a 550A Kempii and a SAF 600A running 1.0mm wire.Using BOC Universal mix,I find they are going through gas like nobodies business.I plan to buy new regulators and flow meters.Question is what pressure and what flow? Material is clean mild steel and all welding is inside away from draughts.

For flow i would be using around 10 lpm.
As for the pressure, the gauge only tells you the pressure in the bottle and gives you an idea of what you've got left.

Gas Flow = Wire dia X 10 +2 LPM

And regarding pressure, if you are using single stage regulator with single cylinder or bottle, u need not to worry about the pressure

From your post I take it you are a BOC account, I'd have a word with the local rep, they will come in measure and set all your flow rates and can supply you with widgets that will stop people using excessive flows in the future
