Hi folks, about to embark on making myself a powder coating oven (I've outgrown my existing domestic affair). My plan is to use 40x40 box section skinned inside and out with 1mm galvanised Sheet and then stuffed with the very heavy weight supercool insulation we use for PWHT-ing. My question is about how best to weld/ join the skins to the frame for weatherproofness. It will need to live outside from time to time.
I've got ER18, 316 and 309 wires on hand and the appropriate gases. I obviously will need to grind the zinc off where it's welded and will use some cold galvanising spray to cover these bits. The question is, would there be any advantage in using a stainless (309 possibly due to the higher Cr content) wire rather than mild steel and then relying on the coating. I suppose the other option would be to use rivets.
Any thoughts / recommendations from people who have done similar most welcome....
Oli.
