funny spitty welding

hi all got a proper go on my new welder yesterday and it seems to be extremely spitty and very high up welds that only stick to one piese of metal and simply fall off and dont stick however it improved greatly when i got the end of the tp protruding the end of the shroud

please help

I'm guessing this is a MIG welder? Could be a problem with the gas...

Can you post us up a picture or two of the welds.....
Was it on steel?

hi yes my clarke 100e with 0.8mm wire and co2 gas on full whack power and 4 or 5 wire speed most of the time
it was on new steel at a thickest of 4mm
this is prob the best pic i have toll tomorrow when i get back in the garage

You're trying to weld 4mm thick steel with a clarke 100e?
Not a chance!

well it was actually 3mm just looked at the invoice but if it were thicker would it still even stick it

May be just about doable, but you better get practising your uphand welding if you want it to stick.

Welding verticle up. You can use quite a low setting for that, it burns in well.

i fixed the welding problem
it had no swan neck liner in it!!! i reacon the ire was ballsing up inside

Quite possibly.

Or maybe the wire was balling up?
