I have a ford 4000 would like to fit a heater in the cab to make the cold days bareable anyone have any thoughts on this
And with a remote controlled unit, it could even be de-iced and nice n toasty before you leave the house.....Diesel heater. Just needs a 12V supply and a connection to the fuel tank.
what did they do before googlePlenty of experts on here to advise and point out if something isn't quite right
I grew up driving a MF165 with a canvas cab, which had the canvas sides for that, however I don't think I ever felt any heat make it to the cab as there was that many open parts of the cab!I have seen a canvas affair that directs the heat from the engine to the front of the cab.
Yes, but does the OP have a real steel & glass cab ?I grew up driving a MF165 with a canvas cab, which had the canvas sides for that, however I don't think I ever felt any heat make it to the cab as there was that many open parts of the cab!
True, so a aux diesel fueled heater might be best.It could help, but my experience in cold weather was unless you were doing hard work where the radiator was actually getting sufficiently hot enough to warm the air, you just ended up with another source of cold air.
The only times I can remember getting any real kind of warmth, was ploughing on days with minimal wind, where the engine was working near it's limit, and you usually got more benefit from the whole transmission warming up after a few hours of running.
Neighbor had a 5000 and built his own cab.Any Ford 4000 cab I've seen is completely open at the rear so I don't think any heater will be effective.
