Good afternoon,
I've recently bought a Stahlwerk AC/DC TIG 200P inverter set second hand (it's not from the current range of white bodied sets which look more limited than the one I've bought, which is blue). It all seems in good working order. My previous experience is with a transformer set so getting up to speed with the differences.
One thing I've noticed is the way the welder responds to foot pedal operation is very different to how I remember with the older transformer set. In particular, when on AC it seems to function as an on-off switch, there is no modulation of current at all as far as I can tell. It seems to work better in DC but still doesn't seem to give the full current range behaviour I'm used to (i.e. very light press gives minimum current down to full travel giving maximum set current). Is this normal behaviour? One of the things I've noticed is there is a dial on the pedal from 1-10 which I don't know the function of, I've tried it at both settings but it seems the same. Anyone know what this would be for? I've tried playing with a couple of the settings on the front of the welder but haven't managed to get the welder to behave how I want yet.
Thanks in advance.
