So im after a welder to get going again after not doing it for maybe 10 years . Arc welders seem cheap compared to tig and mig and you can use them outdoors win win.Im not going to be welding anything 2mm thin or anything too delicate. Im just going to be practicing on off cuts {box section angle iron etc} So no need for it to look too pretty just yet.
Now a quick google gave me the screw fix machine called the impax. Yes they run of house hold plugs they are cheap but for 90 quid are they even worth trying? The machines I used to use were in a fab shop i used to work at in my late teens and they were tig and mig .My actual concern is more the case that cheap things even if they work can sometimes be bloody hard to use. So has anyone used these kind of machines? The screwfix lidl and aldi ones. Are they worth it if its for home use simply to practice? If not what should i look out for ?
