Finally unpacked my welder and welded a few horseshoes today. Im using an inverter and 6013 rods at 80 amps but appear to have some splatter. Any useful criticism welcome.
Welcome to the forum.
First welds with the welder or first welds ever ?
If they are 2.5 welding rods amps are ok but the box will state a amp range and depending on your machine will vary on final settings. But if they are 3.2 that's cold. Any who it gets said tonnes and tones grab some 6mm or thicker plate and pad beads you will learn a lot more from starting this way.
Guessing youre using 2.4mm rods? If so, Bump the amps up to 90-95 and hold a real tight arc, rod positive and earth negative.
Welding a fillet weld (in the flat position) you want to be at or close to the max amperage rating for the rod, with a real tight arc (almost touching the flux) and an angle of 20deg or so drag angle.
