Hi.
I have wanted to start welding for a while now and well, the stars seem to have aligned. An acquaintance wants to get rid of a welder, I want one and considering what is going on in the world, I have found my self to have a lot more time on my hands.
First up, the machine is a Clarke 151en. From what I can gather, while not winning any awards at this years pagent, it is still a pretty good beginner welder. Is this a good place for me to start?
My real question is this though. The welder will come with all the bells and whistles. A semi decent mask, welding wire, both normal and fluxed plus a rusty old gas bottle which is owned and not rented.
My concern lays with the bottle. As far as I am aware, it has no safety record. Should I get it tested? I'm hesitant to use it without knowing, and, for safeties sake, should I buy a new regulator? The bottle has been stored semi horizontal in a shed for an undetermined time with the regulator attached to it.
Or should I just play it safe, get rid of the bottle and go for a no rental bottle?
Thanks
