Hi everyone, I am looking for some help. My welder, 10 year old Ferm Gas Mig 100, has a fault. I have read that these are re-boxed/badged Sealey welders.
It was working OK (as well as one of these does) when it seemed to suddenly not be able to create enough heat.
Wire feed is OK, metal is clean, there is an arc created but it will not create a weld pool. The wire melts put will not fuse with the parent metal. I can run a bead on the parent metal but once coll can just flick it off.
The power switches all make a definite buzz when the are switched on or off - settings are max, min, 1 & 2. I put in a new tip, no change to performance. I swapped from 0.8 to 0.6 wire and again no difference. I checked the earth cable and clamp - a bit battered, so I replaced them too.
Now I am lost on what is up with it. Any ideas anyone.
thanks,
Karl.
