I just started welding this weekend with a small Mig using gasless wire. I'm getting things to stick together, and every once in awhile it even looks ok. My main concern is that yesterday, after sticking pieces of scrape together for about an hour or so, my eyes feel very strained. I have a mask w/ a flip down visor, but after running a bead, when I open my mask to look at it, it just feels like I've been looking at somthing a little too bright. Is it normal for your eyes to feel a little strained? I just don't want to be doing any perminant damage.
Well after reading around here, it seems that you should use a minimum of a #10 shield. I pulled mine out of my helmet, but there are no markings on it. How do I tell if this one is suficient for arc welding?
Wait it's marked H-9-HT-Z87.1-- ...A #9 ?
