The new Phoenix arrived yesterday but sadly I was unable to test it out as I could not seem to change the Job. Some other settings seemed to not be working whilst some were and it wasn't until I got home that I realised why that would be, there is a key switch to lock the welder so that only a few settings can be altered by the operator and it was in the locked position
I already have a Phoenix 330 Expert Puls it is approx 10 years old and I bought it second hand from @Jim Davey . It is a compact and although not massively heavy it is quite bulky and awkward to carry especially as I do most of my welding on fishing boats. So this time I went for a separate wire feed unit with a 10m interconnect cable, that way I can leave the base unit in my car, take the wire feeder onto a boat and still have 8m reach with the push-pull torch.
Pic of it unboxed.
And a pic of the 10m interconnect cable snaked on a bracket I made.
My first thoughts on it are all good, it came with an adapter for the gas hose connection to go from the EU standard 1/4" up to the more usual 3/8" fitting we use here, so that is a nice touch.
There is a compartment on the side where the cables connect.
The wire feed unit has two doors on the left side, one covering the reel and the other for the wire feed roller.
The wire feed rollers are tool free changing which is nice.
