It seems I'm having a bad run with my Mig welding sets lol.
Got hold of a Esab LKB 160 when the Migatronic (see other thread) started playing up.
Brilliant Set, unfortionatly this too has now stopped working.
Symptoms:
All was working fine, till i moved it, I got a brief welding Arc with gas then Nothing No welding Arc No gas.
Did all the usual connector & Fuse checks, two on the back of the machine, one on the small relay inside.
It wire feeds correctly but the main contactor or gas solenoid doesn't fire, when I hold the contactor down, I have a welding arc but no gas.
There is power going to the gas solenoid. The service manual states the Gas solenoid and main contactor is controlled by a NPN type transitor. So this i think is the culprit, however as far as i understand transistors ( read not very well) when they are broke no power is given out.
Talked to a local Welding supplier / service repair place and they want
£30+vat to look at it and they siad it sounds like a problem with the board.
Any Ideas?
Cheers Paul.
