Well, I knocked up a switch using a 10AX Lighting switch and a length of 0.75mm flex to test a couple of welders as I don't actually have a Euro Torch currently. Worked perfectly to tell the truth.
So did ONE of the welders. The wire feed responds well to the dial, and can't really fault the machine. It is the slightly older of the two, and is actually the C250 - essentially the same welder from the spec sheet.
The problem comes with the C251, and that when the switch was pressed, the wire feed was responsive to the dial, and worked well. BUT there was a god awful hum from a transformer, not sure which as there are three in total, and the current draw must have had an impact as the lights dimmed.
Now, not being fond of electronics, nor understanding them all too well, this leaves me in a little bit of a tight spot. I'd like to figure out what would cause this to happen, but don't know where to start. I know I could send it off to TecArc but at 94kg, I'd end up delivering it myself which I really don't have time to do at the moment.
Has anyone had experience of the machine, or the problem I'm attempting to describe?
This means I've two welders to sort out, neither of which are progressing very quickly, so all help is appreciated...
