anyone using epoxy onto bare plastic or better to stick with dedicated plastic primer ?
Depends on the plastic.
I would buy a liter of 1K plastic primer and put it on before the epoxy.
If it's a soft flexible plastic I would use a 2k primer over the plastic primer as the epoxy is quite hard and brittle and might crack.
Can someone put a link to the epoxy primer data sheet that shows where it's recommended straight on top of all plastics?
Epoxy, at least Lechler 29107 is NOT hard and brittle. In fact the primer that has gone off in the mixing cup can be flexed severely before it lets go, even though it had no preparation. I have used epoxy primer over a rubber bumper which was subsequently run into a door frame. The primer didn't crack, the polyester base didn't crack, just the lacquer coat. I think that is a fair test? It can be regarded as almost a universal primer, as it outperforms standard etch and plastic primers in my experience.
