I have an IP outdoor rated socket used for my mower/hedge trimmers.
The outdoor socket gets it's supply from a spur taken from a socket inside my garage.
I wanted to be able to isolate the outdoor socket when it's not in use. I fitted an isolator switch (with neon light) in my garage.
This all works ok at the moment but I have a question.
Does it make any difference to keep both neutral wires together in an isolator switch- I.E both in N1 position.
I have checked the neutral wire in the outdoor socket with a neon tester and no current is detected when the isolator is in the off position.
