Hi I'm new to the forum and have to say it is very good.
I have a question about the earth clamp, I'm an electrical electronic engineer by training so may be looking at this a bit too scientifically!!!.;
Relying on a large crocodile clip (with minimal surface contact area) to provide a consistent electrical connection (even with all the metal cleaned up) with the high currents required for mig welding seem a bit hopefull ?
If you had to do a lot of welding say for example on a restoration would you not be better welding a stud in a convenient location, and attaching a suitable eye to the earth lead then bolting the earth lead on?
Or do you just through experience adjust the welder on a weld by weld basis compensating for different earth connections?
Cheers Dave
