Hi everyone i'm Mel a newbie to the forum but not new to welding.
I'm trying to resurect an old mig set back to life, failing miserably, and i'm looking for some help and advice.
I'm afraid that i am a bit of a hoarder and find it difficult to throw anything away especially a tool so a few years ago when my dualmig failed on me i put it to one side in the workshop and went out and bought another.
A short while ago missing the old girl somewhat i decided to have a look and to see if it could be fixed.
I remember that it stopped working half way through a repair that i was making to a transit that i needed to use, so not being able to wait i went out and got another. So another sealey was obtained this time a 130XT which just simply isn't as nice as the dualmig and doesn't lend itself to gasless use easily should i require to use it this way.
I think the machine is a 1994 model but also know that it didn't get that much use before it failed, so i suspected that the pcb board would be at fault.
A friend who is an elecrtical engineer found that a ceramic wire wound resistor had gone open circuit and he replaced this for me, but i think that it might have taken something else out with it.
He is willing to have another look but has asked for a circuit diagram.
The motor works and has been tested by applying 12 volt's to it, the pcb relay has been removed and tested and found to be working also, and then replaced.
Iv'e contacted sealey with regard to the circuit diagram but i'm not holding my breath on getting an answer.
Is anyone here familliar with this board and can offer any advice, I'm not desperate and i consider the repair to be a bit of a project but it would be really nice to have the machine working again. Thanks people, i do know that i go on a bit.
