Hi all.
I have recently been attempting to drill 316 l stainless steel at a position close to where I had been tig welding and have found it to be extremely tough. Each hole that I have drilled has cost me one expensive cobalt droll bit ( 6 mm ) . Not only do the bits wear out but they also just snap and become irretrievably lost in the work creating a huge problem as I am left with a ferrous metal drill bit lodged in large walk in stainless steel sterilizer which will rapidly rust when exposed to a corrosive atmosphere of steam and oxygen.
Now that I have made you aware of the gravity of my dilemma can anybody offer advice.
Already grateful.
