Hi. Newbie questions on this one I'm afraid...
I have just bought a Draper 16057 Gas/Gasless Mig Welder (100A); fine for my needs. The instructions for polarity setup for gasless welding are really poor. They say to swap the ground to positive, torch to negative. But, the manual photos are black and white with a different layout of cables to that in the actual machine (manual depicts one cable coming up though a hole from beneath and one from outside coming in). Both cables are black and emerge from holes from inside the lid, so without taking the case apart to trace the cables I don't know what mode the welder has been supplied from factory in.
Also, the two black cables are not very long with no spare length. They expect you to swap terminals, so the cables will cross and touch. They are insulated, but this seems fundamentally unsafe to me.
It would have been useful for the two black cables to be colour indexed or marked with what they are. Not good for someone doing this from scratch for the first time.
Can anyone confirm please? Thanks.
