Do you usually stick to a specific tungsten type, or just use whatever is on hand on AC TIG welding ?

Hi Guys,
Do you usually stick to a specific tungsten type, or just use whatever is on hand? especially under AC TIG welding ,which tungsten you prefer ,such as :WP,WL15,WC20 (I mean use below 250A small welding machine )

Most of my jobs are stainless 2-4mm thick or aluminium 3-5mm thick.

At home I have torches set up for each, mainly because the setup/torch suits the job better but it's also quicker to swap the torch than remove and replace the end parts.

Blue or Grey, whatever's to hand, really. Can't be fussy when I'm dipping and contaminating every three minutes....

I have a stack pre sharpened and tidy them up at the end of the session.

+1. I have 1.6mm grey ones and then 2.4mm blue ones and those do everything I need. Ac dc or steel / Ali / magnesium etc.

Most sites will say that these universal type tungstens are AOK and no need to worry too much about the specific tungsten type.

I bought a pack of 2.4mm blue, and a mixed pack of 1.6 and 2.4mm red...both say they are multi purpose for ac and dc, I personally can't tell the difference between them but they work so that's about all I need to know.

Im about the same, prefer the blue, use 2.4 for most things unless its really thin, then I drop down.

I mostly buy one size and material and use it for 85% of what I do , yet to try the super mix ones though ,,, must get round to it .

I keep thoriated and zirconiated, 1.6 and 2.4 in each I have 1 3.2 zirconiated for thick aluminum when I'm running 210-230 amps, I've tried most others and prefer these 2 types, I'd like to try ck lyzl not sure if that's the right code, I mostly run 2.4

Typically I always use 1 tungsten size and type only for most jobs.
2.4mm purple sharpened point on a side and ball point on the other.
It does everything from aluminum to titanium.
When I need to go very low or high on amps I go with specific tungstens type sized accordingly.
Green for aluminum, red for stainless, purple for titanium.
But you can go by with various sizes of purple if you have 1.6, 2, 2.4, 3.2mm diameter you're covering practically everything just with a single type of tungsten
Surely green doesn't work well on DC and red doesn't on AC
