Yeah, we had one. Rubbish. Still lodged in the purlins as far as i know.

The Plasplug system does a job, but not a good job, It is okay for touching things up to keep and edge, It's not a lot of good for sharpening something that is blunt or dameaged. And of course, it is only as good as the operator.

No need to use diamond on a machette - its HSS steel at best and will clog diamond. And it should only need 1 angle. Why would it need a relief angel for hacking away?

Its drill bit sharping i have problems with. I use HSS bits on wood plastic metal but they regularly come in contact with masonry and it knackers them.

No easy answer to sharpening damaged drills. You can either practice sharpening them until you get good at it or send it to a specialist or buy new. Bandsaw Service Limited in Windsor U.K. offer a postal sharpening service

I do all HSS bits on a bench grinder free hand.
Most of the time its as good as a jig. Not seen many jigs for 2" drill bits anyway

Its easy to do if your shown a few times, and have a good practice.

Same here drills above about 2mm i touch up, 7 ish and above it gets easier but admit its not what i am good at

I hand touch mine a few times on the bench, but I put them over a tool grinder every now and then otherwise they become too far out, amazeing how there soon start drilling oversize holes, bad news on a 3" bit....

I just keep using mine until I run out and then do the whole lot together last time I counted I had over 100 bits im sure there are bigger collections out their that mine

Ive got the same approach as Welderpaul always worked for firms with accounts at the local Eng merchants so booked them out at the start of the job. Now I have to pay for them!

A tip that ive seen on a website a while ago was to weld two nuts together flat to flat so they look like elton john glasses, the resulting angle in the V would be 120deg so when youve touched up your drill bit you then hold your "nuts" up to the light and drop your bit in the v to check how near or far your angles will be.

Sounds eye-watering to me...
