I need to buy a dial gauge and magnetic stand to measure the endfloat on the bearings on my Land Rover. My question is, are the cheap ones from Toolzone etc (circa £25) any good for this purpose? Basically they are only having to act as a comparator to enable me to then buy the correct shims. If not, I was thinking of buying one of the cheap magnetic bases and a separate better quality dial gauge. Anyone have any experience of this please?

I bought a Banggood one based on Doubleboost's review I use my own gauges:federal and Mitutoyo -its pretty good for the money and my occasional use.
