A rainy weekend so the Dexta has received some overdue attention. It is all rebuilt now, so onto final stages with primer and top coat. The main body of the tractor is all made up from castings with the typical roughish finish. Brush-applied primer and top coat is fine here. (2 coats of Tractol primer - horrible stuff, and two coats of Tractol Empire Blue gloss - nice to use)
The tinwork (Nose cone, wings, bonnet etc) are a different matter. These are nice clean metal akin to car bodywork so I'd like a decent job on these. I'm going to have a go at this myself.
I'm told two pack is the best to use as it can be rubbed down/cut back?
Presumably I can take a sample of the Tractol gloss to get a good colour match with the two pack. What's the procedure for painting? prep/primer/undercoat/polishing?
A lot of the body panels I see at tractor shows etc have a lot of orange peel on the finished paint job which spoils it.
All help much appreciated!
