I'm looking for a cheap rectified DC MIG welder with positive torch polarity. The trouble is none of the adverts I've seen on ebay specify the polarity. I'm aware some of the more expensive gas/gasless MIGs are switchable, with a +ve and a -ve terminal on the front, but I'd like to ask:
(1) Are all MIGs (even the cheap ones from SIP, Clarke Weld etc.) rectified DC?
(2) Do all gas MIGs (i.e. not gas/gasless) by default have a recitified DC positive torch?
I've been told that typically its better to weld with a DC +ve torch if using gas, but I'm not sure if that means that all gas MIGs have this by default.
Thanks for your help.
