Can anyone shed any light on the presence of the allan heads on a D1-4 camlock chuck?
Lots don't seem to have these.

That's what holds the cams in isn't it?
All the ones I have seen have them.
I think mine has those. I will check tommorow..Can anyone shed any light on the presence of the allan heads on a D1-4 camlock chuck?

I'm taking about the cams that you rotate to lock the pins into the spindle. Those Allen heads are at 90 to the cams and extend through the relief in the cam to prevent it coming out.
On my lathe they also have a sprung-loaded hardened pin that indexes the cam in the open position for removing the chuck.
