I'm just about to change the last of 45 back boxes (not deep enough for new flat plate switches & sockets), only to find the kitchen fitters 2 years ago have butchered the cpc wires in one of the light switches.
To make matters worse they soldered extra length to the existing wires (and sleeved it), normally I would just replace the cable, but this time it's not possible (enters the side of the back box rather than the top - possibly the switch was moved to clear the larder cupboard).
I might be able to change the orientation of the new back box so the existing cpc wire will reach, but will probably need to unsolder the joint, if not can I use a wiring connecter to extend ? also does the wire need to be clean of solder ?
EICR due to be done shortly, so one other question, the light switch is 2 gang, 2 way, 2 separate circuits and 2 separate RCBO's are there likely to be any problems with this ?
