Hi,
I am a complete novice. I bought a Sealey Supermig 140 and am trying to weld automative sheet metal. I am tacking around my material leaving a good inch gap between welds.
I've been really struggling. I have watched loads of youtube videos over months before this but my welds look rubbish, don't penentrate and I'm getting blow through when i try to repair no matter what I change on my machine.
My settings are limited - power is min/max and a 1/2 toggle. Wire speed has 10 settings, I set it half way. I am using 0.6mm wire. I have a basic tap regulator with c02 argon disposable bottles. Playing with power settings does nothing to my weld.
After spending days on this I'm coming to the conclusion I've got no gas. I have changed the disposable bottle but cannot hear any gas coming out of the gun (didn't know this until recently).
Some questions around gas
-how do you clean a regulator? I'm guessing mine is blocked
-is it possible to upgrade my welder to some other gas supply - I don't think these bottles are going to work on as a cheap option.
-does my weld look like it's out of gas?
Any other words of advice?
Thanks
Matt
