Connecting regulator to mig hobby pipe

I got one of these for the boc argoshield light Y bottle but how do I connect the regulator pipe to the hobby clarke mig welder pipe.
I am guessing I have to cutoff the existing connector to the disposible bottle and then push it into the new nickel connector.
It looks like there is a Collar which I need to push the pipe into but I don't want to do it incase I am wrong.

Also should I use PTFE tap when connecting up the regulator to the bottle etc?

Can we get a pic of the hose on your Clarke?

If it has a connector similar to the one on your weldequip pic then you need to push the plastic collar in (probably toward the gas bottle) and the hose should slide out

In fact any type of sealant must be avoided. The nut is used to tighten the two halves of the joint (usually a male & female cone) together and putting tape on the threads could prevent the nut tightening up. Just make sure the mating surfaces are clean before tightening.

The hose coming from your Clarke will have stretched a bit to fit onto the regulator for the disposables, use a Stanley knife and cut the regulator off, about 25mm back along the pipe, this will leave a nice clean cut and the pipe will be at it's usual diameter, then simply press it into the little connector on the conversion kit..it's a self sealing push fit.

I don't get that bit they are a nylon tube that simply pushes inside the disposable regulator fitting, just push the collar to release

To be honest, it took me a while to figure that out on my first fitting. Easy once you know!

Yes easy when you know how, worked a treat, the pipe was kinda stubborn to come off the disposable reg, went straight into the new one and easily removable.

The difference using the BOC Y bottle is amazing!

The little bottles just don't have the pressure my welds now look like they do on YouTube!

I changed the Swanneck and fitted a new metal liner and new liner in the gun also.

New tips and it works a treat, thanks for your help!

Perhaps my wording was not the best:
Yes it does push in but tends to stretch/harden/shrink or whatever it does at that point if it has been on a while, that's why he found it stubborn to pull out.

It will work but is a lot better if cut back a few mm to an unused section of pipe.

I did a spit test on the connection did not see any leaks with gas turned on.

I asked my friend (who's welder it is) if I could cut it he said yes so I might cut it a little bit back.

I do have a question about how high to have the gas, what L/min should it be on?

It was pretty windy today and I had the garage door shielding me, I had it set to 10 L/min when flowing, is that about right for argon mix?
