I've read the tutorials here several times in an effort to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm running a Farmhand 115v mig, .030 steel wire with 75/25 gas. The car I'm welding is 20g steel, so I couldn't just go with flux cored which I'm actually able to weld with. I've tried numerous speed/power settings in an effort to create a weld, but instead the wire just lays on top of the two pieces I'm joining. I can use a set of needle nose visegrips to pull the bead off the metal; there is no bonding. Both pieces are clean shiny metal, I've got a strong ground and plenty of gas. For some reason, on every setting, the wire just melts on top of the metal and doesn't bond anything. Any ideas why this might be happening?
