To be hounest I have got the nack for welding 0.8mm now. But still a few issues, even though I got my cones very round while tacking them up they are still not 100% acurate but are much better than my first atempt.
My down pipes consist of 10 cones each at an angle of 7.5 degree each giving a total bend of each joint of 15 degree, so I have a consistant cone on the downpipe but is also a nice bend, ( I say consistant but there are 2 steps in there but not noticable but to aid peak power but thats a little secret )
I think if I get these macine cut and are accurate I wont have any problems with the build.
I have had my pipe design run through software by someone and it gives power from 5k rpm, peaks at 10,200 rpm and still has a fair bit of over rev without dying.
The pipe on a mild ported engine is capable of over 70bhp, with my porting, 32mm carbs, large reed block, 0.8mm squish, new ignition I should see a genuine 75 rwhp without pusing it as far as race spec porting.
This should be fine for road or track, hoping it should need new rings every 1k miles and pistons every 2k miles. That should last 2 years but knowing me ill do a top end rebuild every year.
