Come to use my Colchester Master 2500 lathe and its decieded to melt the main switch for some reason. Try to source a new switch for a colchester and was told buy one from a electrical seller. Only problem with that is the colchester one the main box fits inside with the switch outside. The new one I have had to mount the whole box on the outside and feed the wires through the panel to it. No problem there the wires are melted anyhow so replace them with longer ones to fit the box. Done away with wires to the low-vol lite never used it anyways. Problem is it won't fire up. Not an electrical expert by any means but I will attempt anything. Tested the cable coming in all phases running 250v, all ok to the switch, everything seems fine inside the machine, could it be the motor? Maybe the motor is causing the problems in the first place? Thought it might be something to do with damp. The electrical panel had damp on the inside which is never a good thing! The Motor seems to be free can turn it with the pulleys no problem. How do you go about testing a motor seen many electricans say a motor is zero to earth (?) and needing a re-wind or a new one on
