Doe's anyone have any tips for dealing with the tiny pinholes that appear when clearcoating carbon fibre? Here's my process...
Remove part from mold
Wet and dry with 400 grit
Apply 2 coats of 2k clear(maxiclear)
Wet and dry with 400 grit
Apply another 2 coats of 2k clear
Wet and dry with 1200 grit, then polish
I have done a few parts over the weekend and what I had to do was totally drench the parts in lacquer to get rid of the pinholes. I used just the air from the spraygun to push the lacquer around the part to break the surface tension around the pinholes. As you would expect this caused a few runs and sags which is time consuming to remove. I also tried applying 3 very fine mist coats initially to the part, hoping this would help, it didn't really help that much.
Anyone know a good way of dealing with these pinholes?
