A couple of years ago I picked up a single phase 3HP Clarke workshop compressor off a local garage, the guy said that basically the motor was knackered and it wouldn't pump upto full pressure. So as it wasn't really big enough for him he'd bought a new compressor and let me have it for £50.
So I then picked up a second hand motor off Ebay 3hp 2.2kw same rating, same number of poles etc and fired it up. The compressor pumped and still does work quite happily upto 100 PSI but over that it will start to labour, slow down and will eventually stall out. So I've had to wind down the pressure switch so that it shuts off at 100PSI and kicks back in at around 60 but I'd really like to get it running up to full pressure again to give me some more air.
So what's likely to be the issue and what pressure limits should this machine run at ? I've looked everywhere but can't find a manual or specs for it.
Thanks
Mike
