chopper problem

So guys, I've been planning to chop my Yamaha XS 250 roadbike.
I've read many articles, magazines and seen chop builders on tv but need some help. Since it's a sewing machine size of bike and I intend to turn it in a bobber style chop with rear suspension ( as the roads in Gozo are practically like the moon's surface), I am confused from where I should chop the frame.
Ideally I would try and fit an XS 650 rear wheel which is wider and have it in stock.
Does anyone have any ideas, done such a project or know of a site/ forum where members build and discuss 250cc or similar chops. This isn't going to be a mini chopper though

All a long time ago... But run the xs400 carburetors filterless or with mesh filters/k&n's and stock 400 jettin on the xs250 motor, and open up the exhaust. Jetting will be about right, and all the starting and running problems will evaporate.
Don't be tempted to tune it too high, the crank is the weak spot...

I had lots of xs's, the little fairing/nosecone one had a very perky motor in it, and steered really well and the rigid chop was a ... rigid chop

My cousin had the XS650 (twin) and I had the XJ650 (four) both nice bikes

the easy way would be to lop off the rear frame rails behind the rear suspention mounts and sleeve in a small loop so it all stays tied together, and maybe fit some smaller shocks ,but keep an eye on the new rake/trail, or build a hardtail from your existing frame, hardtails can be as comfy as yer likes just make sure you build it to fit you, one website that springs to mind is chopperbuilder.co.uk , they have a section for smaller bikes, its frequented by some of the best builders in the uk hth

I am really happy you replied folks, it means that there is someone in the world who was interested in the XS's family smallest models...
As for a rigid, I prefer them from suspension chops, however Gozitan roads are like mild offroad...so although I might go that route, it will be really painful to use it regularly then
I do have a wicked design which I really intend to build the bike around...Hope to be able to realize this craving dream.
