Sorry it’s an old subject:
I am restoring a classic car and so far I have used Aerosols of Simoniz acrylic red primer on all the sand blasted areas – just a thin coat to keep the rust away.
I now need to give the car a good coat of primer so I have bought some spray equipment from a car paint supplier. I also asked for acrylic primer but they only had two pack acrylic which I did not want to use for health reasons etc.
As an alternative they offered me cellulose primer to go over the acrylic. I have always been under the impression that you should not spray cellulose paint over acrylic.
Their answer was that it would be no problem as long as the acrylic paint had not just been applied , ie like yesterday and that it had gone hard which mine has as it has been on the car for over a week.
I am still surprised by this advice and am in two minds whether to use this cellulose primer paint over the acrylic.
Any advice welcome.
