I have a cebora tig star 251 welder that is causing me all sorts of grief. It will not strike an arc. When I go to weld all I have is gas and high freq but only a very minimal spark from the tungsten. If I use it in mma mode and drag the stick along the work piece I get a spark similar to a flint spark on a lighter. There are, however occasions when it does work and it actually worked for the whole day yesterday. I went out this morning and managed only four tacks before it failed to light up. I have noticed that if I leave the machine switched on and plug it out and back in again that I can get an arc for a second or two before it fails again. I had a guy take a look at it and he wasn't able to find the problem so I'm wondering if anyone has had similar issues with a welder and may be able to shed some light on the situation. It might also be worth saying that the led readout for amps doesn't give a reading anymore, even when I manage to get an arc. It flashes some numbers briefly when I switch the welder on but then goes blank so there is power there but no reading.
