Firstly thanks to Richard on here for his help and encouragement!
Im fairly shy when it comes to this type of thing. haha! here goes...
I have my Castolin a while now. Its a great machine imo. Im a pure hobbyist at welding. When I got it the machine came with a fancy WP26 rigid torch with up/down control of the amperage on the fly as you work. This torch is of the Euro central type I believe and virtually brand new in condition.
I decided I wanted to change it so I purchased standard Dinse fitting for the power and 3/8 gas fitting to enable me to remove the euro-torch style fitting the manufacturer used
Torch fitting pictured.
and the machine side.
I set about making up an adaptor bracket to fix power and gas fittings to the machine.
Usually id take the lazy way out but i've no lathe at home so Had to opt for bench fitting.
A friend of mine had a 3/8 Dinse adaptor with what appeared to be 1/4 BSP fitting on the power side. I Checked it with my Zeus chart and it didnt match up with the specification. The next day my WP9 Parweld torch arrived complete with 3/8 BSP power and gas fitting. I had basically to modify a piece of brass I found in work to fit the new torch, and also modify adaptor to suit.
Modified Dinse fitting to accept 3/8 BSP torch end
Above the Gas hose inside the machine.A bronze bar machined with m10 thread cut thru to couple the ever short power wire to the torch. Bronze was the only material I had at hand. I would have preferred to use some copper or Aluminium....
FINALLY torch connected to machine......
now the sting in the tail....
Although I can get the torch to function on the Lift-Tig Setting. I cannot get High Frequency to initiate the arc now. Ive swapped the set-up back to standard and HF works fine with the original torch, but not the new Parweld. The HF works with the standard torch with or without the torch button control connected up
Ive rigged up the Parweld switching wired to the welders socket. The gas solenoid fires but no HF arc initiation.
The Parweld torch comes with 5 wires. I only connected up enough to get the switch to function as Im not sure what the other wires do. (Suspect they may be for Latching)
Im stumped! Thanks for reading.
