I have a SIP weldmate/migmate and it just doesnt seem to work properly.
I managed to make myself a trolley for the SIP and a gas bottle that I have rented. This was pretty thick steel 3-4 mm, but this went ok. I ran it at almost maximum power with gasless wire. I have changed to gas now, and have started doing my first repairjob on my beloved BMW02, but The welds either doesnt seem to penetrate properly or the weld is really big and thick like a caterpillar. And it always spatter a lot in the beginning before it starts to do proper welding. This could take a couple of seconds.
The wirefeed is probably what is wrong. It sounds like the little motor is shifting up and down in revs all the time, it actually sounds like it is slipping, but it is not. I have tried to hold the wire and this is ok also, the wheel doesnt slip.
Uneven wirefeed is probably caused by two things: Too small wire feed motor with not enough torque and a really bad electronic regulation
I found this forum just after I bought it and I would never have bought it if I knew how crappy it is. Instead of saving £200 I have wasted it, and a good welder will cost me at least £500(Esab origomag150) I should have bought this from the start.
